The past week has been pretty eventful. I'm exhausted and I can't wait to just wind down and relax. Although I don't see that happening any time soon. The MS Walk was an amazing experience. I had a lot of fun. I don't think I'm going to talk about it much here just because I have a lot to do tonight. However, I'm going to mention my favourite image from that day.

The morning of the MS Walk in Richmond was gloomy with overcast. However, by the afternoon, the sun started to shine. The volunteers started blowing bubbles as a little girl with long blond hair pranced around on the bright green lawn of London Heritage Farm. It was such a beautiful, innocent moment that all the hard work, stress, and time I invested in the Walk made it all worth it.

Money, money, money, must be funny, in the rich man's world

Mochachillo blended with yoghurt?

Yummy but expensive. It's cheaper than the alternatives such as Waves and Starbucks just because I get a free upsize (ex. pay for a small but get a medium) with SPC card, but $5 for a drink? Not exactly thrifty. I really need to watch my spending habits. I try not to spend much. I've started using cash only so I have to go through the inconvenience of going to the bank to get money. It helps... kind of.

Other budgeting ideas:
-write down what I spend
-limit outings per month
...any suggestions?

I may not stop my caffeinated drinks during crunch period (must stay up to write papers/study), but at least I'm starting to control my spending.

Oh, and for those who may think I'm in debt, I'm not. I just have a lot of plans in the future that require money. I enjoy my annual mini trips! I work too hard to not treat myself to a little get-away once in awhile.

I am going to crash soon. I don't know if I can go on like this until the end of April. 'sigh' Oh well, I enjoy it, but I feel like I am not absorbing enough material from school. Being a student is my full time job right now and I'm not doing it very well. I spend more hours at work than studying. Heck, I spend more time working on various volunteer projects than readings.

Work work work work work...

I planned to take a break during summer. The only thing I was going to do was Coop (37.5 hours/week). Then I decided that I will work at CTS. After that, I applied to be a board member of YWiB. And now, I'm contemplating on applying to be the Faculty of Communication Frosh Chair or Vice Chair. Or maybe even run for SMA CR Director. Hmm...

I think I'll just give up and let myself do what I want to do. Is there such a thing as being too ambitious?

Good thing is that Starbucks gave me a free drink certificate for my birthday. I think they knew about my busy Monday. I'm excited for my five shot, venti, non fat, no whip, cherry mocha. Yum =)

So anyways, I had a really enjoyable night today. I think I found my new "escape" spot. It's only an hour away from home, but it's so nice. It reminds me of Victoria near the Empress Hotel looking out at the water. So peaceful and beautiful. Beautiful British Columbia is my home.

Yes, profanity. Very classy. I know.

You lecture me about talking on the phone late at night (please note that I talk very quietly). You repetitively remind me to keep my friends quiet when they're over past your bedtime. Is it so much to assume that you'll be considerate enough to keep your friends quiet when they're over?

Sure, I shouldn't be sleeping past 11am. But I am often out late (usually due to work) and I sleep late because I absorb material and focus better at night. Also, I'm trying to study. I don't think my parents comprehend the fact that in university, although I'm only in school for 3 to 4 hours per course, it doesn't mean I have a lot of leisure time. It's because I have piles after piles of readings. Sure, I'm online a lot. You know why? My readings are online. Plus, I'm saving money by searching for required readings online rather than buying the courseware.

I'm trying to do well in school so you can brag about it. I'm working as much as I can so I don't touch your money. I'm trying to be a good daughter. So please, can you just let me sleep?

I know I can't complain because Stephen's schedule is always scarier but...

AHH! I'm not looking forward to the rest of November. Tonight, I need to finish the first half of a 45 (or so) pages project. Sadly, I only started it today. Horrible, I know. I only realized my schedule when I was talking to him and seeing when's the next time we have time to see each other. It doesn't look that bad on my calendar!

It's really just club stuff that's taking up most of my schedule. I'm not even that active in SMA either! I try to attend all the events, and I'm only planning the Charity Series. Oh well. Hopefully I'll lower my participation in SMA so I can start writing for The Peak (a student newspaper at SFU). Plus, I want to get on the organizing committee for the MS Society events that are coming up (MS Walk, MS Bike Tour, etc).

I need a social life too. I miss having one, but schedules conflict. Sadly, a lot of people I know don't maximize their time. I'm sorry, I had to point that out. I wish I went out more. I don't need to go out as much as he does, but I miss it. Although looking back, I never really had the social life I wanted to. I've always been bombarding myself with work, volunteer, and extra-curricular activities. (Hmm, maybe school should have been in the too.)

Since I mentioned school... I attempted to try harder in my courses this semester and it is evident in my results. I received an A and an A- on my midterms. *dances* I still have horrible study habits, but I notice that being attentive in class really helps. Yes, I realized that after 6 semesters in university. Fail. =P

I think at this point of my life, I need a good balance of school, community involvement, family, work, him, friends, and alone time (not in any particular order). Someone help me!

Marketers' Night

Lately, my thoughts have been consumed by thoughts of SFU SMA's 20th Annual Marketers' Night. Joyous. I'm not even the project manager! Although I must admit that I'm not as busy as some people I know, I cherish my alone time. Now I'm not regretting being involved in this signature event, I just miss quiet time.

In the past week or so, you'll probably find me hiding in a corner engrossed in a novel. I'm almost done my second one! That's amazing! I haven't done that since mid-high school. I suppose it's another way for me to escape. But before I seem like I'm complaining, I'm really not. Marketers' Night (now will be referred as MN), combined with midterms, coop prep, and weekly readings (a stack a week for one course) is just taking a toll on me. Well, it's not too bad, but I have pressure from myself to do really well this semester so it adds up.

Although looking back, I did more in high school than I am doing now. Let's compare. In grade 12, I was involved in four clubs, Trojan Market board of directors, curling (because I'm Canadian!), band... and I think that was it. Oh, I managed the Business work experience program too. Work-wise, I had two part-time jobs. Right now, all I have to worry about is school, SMA, MN, coop, and a seasonal part-time job.

So I got a new piercing... without letting my parents know. It's been 4 days no and my parents haven't noticed yet. Either that, or they don't care.

Here's the "uh oh" moment. Mom's very conservative friend is over right now. She's making me have lunch with them in the kitchen as we speak (or well, as I type). She'll FREAK if she sees it. (Yes, I've known her for that long. Come to think about it, I've know her since I was a toddler.)

I hate telemarketers. With a passion. Oh, and I hate marketers that knock on your door (especially when you have a perfectly working door bell).

Here's some recent ones...

me: hi
lady: *rambles quickly in Mandarin*
me: o_O'' I'm sorry, I don't understand (I know some Mandarin but she was talking too quick for me... I picked up "company" so I knew it wasn't one of my parents' friends)
l in English: Do you understand Mandarin?
me: no, goodbye

Stupid. If I did, why would I say "I don't understand". 'sigh' I suppose she was just making a living.

I try to be nice... I know most people would just close the door on them. What do you people think? Am I decently nice or just plain evil? Sadly after cold calling for Marketers' Night and being hung up on (ugh), I still don't have much pity on telemarketers and kind. At least the people I'm calling are industry professionals =)
